Benchmarking Best Practices
Was going through one of the earlier issues of the Hotels Magazine... and was reading about the Hotelier of the World Award Winner Raymond Bickson...
Wondering...
...how many of the Hotel General Managers around me would have made an attempt to know and benchmark on a few good things the winner has done to qualify him for this award... and to see how many of those benchmarked best practices they were willing to introduce...
Was it the ‘green initiative’... was it ‘energy conservation’... was it ‘guest satisfaction’... was it ‘revenue generation or yield management’... or was it a comprehensive package of all that made a difference...
Just a loud thinking... with a wild assumption that many must have been really busy doing things they’ve been doing all their career... or fire-fighting the tactical & operational day-to-day issues... or sitting around the table and working around the refurbishment boards... or supervising the Chief Engineer to change the 40W bulbs to 60W in the lobby... or following up with the Executive Housekeeper to change the angle of flower-vase in the Royal Suite to a further 20degree instead of its current position...
I poured an ounce of sarcasm intentionally...
